Meals & Snacks at Carousel

Our Infants have individual feeding plans. All food and drinks must be supplied from home. Bottles must be labeled with your child's name and the date. They are warmed in our bottle warmer, and food is heated in the microwave upon request.

The following information is applicable to children 18 months and up, beginning in our Toddler Classroom. Please note that ALL food requiring refrigeration, must be packed with an ice pack. Hot foods must be placed in an insulated container that will keep food at an adequate temperature until 11:30 AM each day. Scroll down for all the details!

Meal & Snack Information

Breakfast: Parents may send prepared breakfast to school with children. Breakfast will be finished at 8:45 AM, so that staff have time to clean and prepare for Circle Time/Class Morning Meetings. If you are sending breakfast, please arrive with enough time for your child to finish by 8:45 AM.

Morning Snacks: Not all children require a morning snack, as arrival times vary. If your child arrives early and may be hungry before the start of lunch at 11:30 AM, you are welcome to send a morning snack from home. Please make your child's teacher aware that you have sent a morning snack.

Lunch: Parents have the option of providing lunch from home in an insulated hot/cold container OR ordering online from our school lunch provider, for an additional fee. Hot and cold selections consist of an entree, vegetables, fresh fruit, and a serving of milk.

Online orders can be placed for one day at a time or for an entire month! Online ordering is available until 7 PM the evening prior to your selection date. You must receive a confirmation email; if you do not receive confirmation, your order did not process and you should send lunch from home. It is recommended that lunch from home contains 1 grain, 1 protein, 1 vegetable, and 1 fruit.

Afternoon Snack: Carousel of Learning provides an afternoon snack (Goldfish crackers, Veggie Straws, Graham Crackers, etc.) alternated with fresh fruit options, and a serving of milk.

Late Day Snack: If children will be staying in care through the late afternoon and closing hours, you are welcome to send an additional small snack. Please speak directly with your child's teachers to plan accordingly.

Water: Children have access to fresh water throughout the day. Carousel has a whole building, water filtration system, with Reverse Osmosis at our designated drinking tap, for the healthiest water around! Teachers fill pitchers to be kept in the classroom. Water bottles and sippy cups are refilled throughout the day and will be sent home each night for washing.

FOOD ALLERGIES & INTOLERANCES

We take food allergies VERY seriously! Classrooms with allergic children are required to be Peanut/Tree nut-free. All staff are trained in observing for new allergic reactions and the proper response protocol. Additionally, staff have received special Epi-Pen training. If your child has existing food allergies, we must be notified of this in writing. A Special Care Plan with specific instructions from your pediatrician must be provided and kept on file. We may require parents to provide their child's snacks from home. Please be sure to speak with the Director at enrollment or any time an allergy is suspected or confirmed.
